Growing up in a small-town, moms are someone who stay home, clean house, and cook cookies. Moms are the ones who get kids to school and pick them up and still have dinner on table by 5. I thought my life had to be the same, but I always wanted more. My kids are my life and I would not change that for the world, but they are only at home for 18-19 years and then my full-time job is done. What do I do then, walk around a cold deserted house? I want to have a life outside of the normal call of a woman and I can have be more. But to say it was easy, that would be a lie for now I see the looks, the judgmental glares, the whispers. I knew it was going to happen and I fight the emotional stress of it daily and with prayer and guidance of others I am dealing with every stone thrown my way. Moms and women in general do not need to stick to the stereotype of what a woman’s role is for I have learned through life and time that we can be whatever we dream of being. We need to help uplift each other for the world is hard enough without destroying each other.
